A Memory In Ink

...

Once upon a time
there was a young mademoiselle named Cassandra,
She was a little awkward and a little quirky, and she had a
fascination with body art.
As a young child, she would coyly stare at strangers at the
grocery store, studying their piercings and tattoos,
memorizing their shapes and colors.

Late at night, when her parents were asleep, she would rummage
through her drawers, collecting markers of every color,
and she would spend hours drawing her own tattoo flash.
She would turn her closet into a tattoo parlor, and she would
practice tattooing herself and her little brothers with pens.

Her passion for the art form never faded.
During the late hours of the night, when she was wrapped up
in the quilt she sewed for her love, she would dream of the
artwork that would someday adorn her body, planning visual annotations
for each person and passage of her life.

And in her mind's eye, it was beautiful.
